PHẦN I. LÝ THUYẾT

1. Cách dùng

Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn dùng để diễn tả những sự việc xảy ra ngay lúc nói hay xung quanh thời điểm nói, và hành động chưa chấm dứt (còn tiếp tục diễn ra).

Ngoài ra, nó còn diễn tả hành động thường xuyên lặp đi lặp lại gây sự bực mình hay khó chịu cho người nói. Cách dùng này được dùng với trạng từ “always, continually”

2. Cấu trúc

Khẳng định (+): S + am/ is/ are + V-ing Lưu ý: – S = I + am – S = He/ She/ It + is – S = We/ You/ They + are	Eg: I am studying English. She is cooking with her mother. We are playing chess.
Phủ định (-): S + am/ is/ are + not + V-ing Lưu ý: – am not: không có dạng viết tắt – is not = isn’t – are not = aren’t	Eg: I am not listening to music at the moment. My sister isn’t working now. They aren’t watching TV at present.
Nghi vấn (?): Am/ Is/ Are + S + V-ing? Trả lời: - Yes, I + am. – Yes, he/ she/ it + is. – Yes, we/ you/ they + are. - No, I + am not. – No, he/ she/ it + isn’t. – No, we/ you/ they + aren’t.	Eg: - Are you doing your homework? - Yes, I am./ No, I am not.

* Một số chú ý khi chuyển V sang Ving:

• Tận cùng là MỘT chữ “e”: Ta bỏ “e” rồi thêm “-ing”.

Ví dụ:

write – writing

type – typing

come – coming

• Tận cùng là HAI CHỮ “e” ta không bỏ “e” mà vẫn thêm “-ing” bình thường.

• Với động từ có MỘT âm tiết, tận cùng là MỘT PHỤ ÂM, trước là MỘT NGUYÊN ÂM: Ta nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “-ing”.

Ví dụ: stop – stopping

get – getting

put – putting

• Với động từ tận cùng là “ie”: Ta đổi “ie” thành “y” rồi thêm “-ing”.

Ví dụ:

lie – lying

die – dying

• Các trường hợp ngoại lệ:

begin – beginning

travel – travelling

prefer – preferring

permit – permitting

3. Dấu hiệu nhận biết

- Trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ thời gian:

Now: bây giờ

Right now: Ngay bây giờ

At the moment: lúc này

At present: hiện tại

Eg: I am not listening to music at the moment. (Lúc này tôi đang không nghe nhạc.)

- Trong câu có các động từ như:

Look! (Nhìn kìa!)

Listen! (Hãy nghe này!)

Keep silent! (Hãy im lặng)

Eg: Look! The train is coming. (Nhìn kìa ! Tàu đang đến.)
